The history of Kallar St. Thomas Church is a journey of faith that spans centuries, beginning with the arrival of St. Thomas the Apostle in India and the subsequent migration of 72 Syrian families in 345 AD. This ancient Knanaya heritage found a new home in the hills of Malabar during the 1940s, when families migrated from Southern Kerala to escape the economic hardships following World War II.

In February 1943, 72 families established the Rajapuram colony under the guidance of Bishop Mar Alexander Chulaparambil. These early settlers initially resided in the Kallar Travelers Bungalow, laying the foundation for what would become a thriving parish. What began as a humble prayer shed evolved through decades of dedicated leadership. Significant milestones include the construction of a permanent church in 1979, a larger cathedral-style structure in 1993, and the addition of a belfry and shopping complex by 2012.
