Our history
The Vision of Migration
In the early 1940s, due to population growth and the scarcity of arable land in Central Travancore, the Knanaya community sought new horizons for settlement. The first organized migration to Malabar was envisioned and presented to Bishop Mar Alexander Chulaparambil by Professor Joseph Kandoth, who was then a professor at St. Aloysius College in Mangalore. Under the Bishop’s direction, the Rajapuram Colony was established as the first organized settlement for Knanaya Catholics in Malabar
